The
desire to alter personality is highly common! It was initially believed that
personality traits are mostly hereditary
and quiet permanent. But research has
now proved that you can not only improve
your personality, but also develop it
in ways you previously did not know, or believe existed!
The first step to improve your personality
is to stop it from getting ruined. Yes, you heard that right! We ruin our own personality, intentionally
or unintentionally, by the habits and hobbies that we follow. Remember, quitting bad habits will
increase your happiness because removing negativity from your life will make
more space for positive stuff!
We,
first of all, need to detect such traits and then try to eradicate them from
our lives forever. I can promise you,
by the end of this article you will be thoroughly motivated to change your bad habits
and be a better person! So, keep reading!
01 Running
from your problems.
What’s the easiest way to solve a problem? Just to run away from it right? But remember, that is only a temporary solution. If you don’t want the same issues to pop up in your life again and again, then face them and solve them at once!
I know this is easier said, but trust me, there exists no problem that has no solution to it. Life is all about figuring your way out of the mess.
02 Living
in the past or future.

Do not let your thoughts wander in the past or continuously seek what’s coming in the future.
The time gone by, the moments already lived, cannot be changed in any way. Just count
the bad times as an experience and move on. Living in the past will only mark
you absent from the present.
There is no point in being stressed about the future as well. Firstly, who
has even guaranteed us a tomorrow? Just live the moment you have right now to
the fullest! Let’s deal with tomorrow, tomorrow ;)
03 Not happy
with what you have.
Gratitude, I believe, is one of the most important possessions one should have. Because what belongs to you already, might be a dream for many. Wishing for more and more (especially materialistic things), only makes us feel empty.
Appreciate what all life has given you. Be thankful for it. If you have
a family, good health and peace of mind, you already have a lot more than most
people!
04 Constant
blame game.

Take responsibility for your words and actions! Accept your mistakes and try to correct them. Sometimes, it’s really easy to just blame it on someone else. But you can never get away with it. The feeling of doing wrong will always remain in your conscience and trouble you.
Even as a team leader, take responsibility for what your group has done. This will make you a more responsible, genuine and honest person.
And that’s a great personality trait!
05 Being
around toxic people.
Sometimes, we can’t vibe right with certain people. It does not mean there is a problem with you or them. You cannot be friends with everyone right?
If you don’t feel comfortable around
them, then maintain your distance. No matter who they are, colleagues, friends
or love partners, if they are effecting your peace of mind, STAY AWAY!
06 Too much
binge-watching.

Binge-watching has become a ‘cool’ term nowadays. But it has a lot of bad effects on your health. Continuously being in front of the screen can lead to headache, blurry sight, neck & shoulder stiffness and even computer vision syndrome.
The blue light effects the nervous system and causes insomnia in certain cases. Binge watching ultimately leads to change in the sleep pattern which is not a good sign.
Anything done in excess is harmful, so watch your favorite movies and shows in
a controlled manner. Let’s not convert Netflix
and Chill into Hospital and Bill!
07 Social media fever.

Being active on social media sites is a trend now. I won’t say it’s wrong, because social media connects the world, keeps us updated and of course, helps in some time-pass. But we cannot overlook the side-effects it has on our mental health.
Studies have linked social media with increase in anxiety, loneliness and even depression. We tend to compare ourselves with other’s so-called happening life and feel low.
Filters
have overtaken natural beauty and happy-pictures have replaced genuine,
heartwarming smiles!
08 Being
‘too busy’.
But people always say it’s ‘good to be busy’ right? Yes, but being so busy that you don’t even have time for yourself is not good. It’s essential to maintain a good balance between work and personal life. Take some time out for your family and friends, go on a holiday, pamper yourself in a spa, or maybe just laze around in your house.
Never, I repeat,
never hesitate to take some ME TIME! Because
you definitely deserve it!
09 Not
enough sleep.

The day’s tiredness and loss of energy will be replenished after a good 7/8 hours sleep. But lack of sleep leads to fatigue, weak immunity and lack of interest. It also has harmful effects like hormonal misbalance, heart related problems, obesity etc.
Remember, prioritizing good sleep is the first
step to self-love!
